Athlone Gymnastics Club

A sincere ‘Thank You’ to our members who returned to Summer Training or Summer Camps since we reopened on 29th June.

We were delighted to see so many of our gymnasts back in action. To all our amazing, happy, funny and wonderful gymnasts, you are what our club is all about!

A very special word of thanks to parents for believing in us and trusting us in these uncertain times, we hope the gymnasts had the best fun despite the many, many times they were asked to sanitise their hands and feet!! Thanks for your co-operation and compliance with the new regulations we have had to put in place to ensure we all stay safe.

Our staff have worked very hard over the past 8 weeks and we are extremely grateful to our coaches for their dedication and commitment to the sport and the club.

We are taking a break from all activities for now in preparation for our restart to weekly classes. Our office is closed next week but we will be back on 31st August.

We hope to resume weekly classes from early September, in line with public health advice at that time, and provisional dates and times will be communicated to you shortly by text message.

In the meantime, enjoy the remainder of the Summer, stay safe and we look forward to seeing you all soon.

Due to the current restrictions that are in place, unfortunately, we will not have any spaces available for new members starting in September. Any new spaces throughout the year will be advertised on our website on a first come basis only.

A very big welcome back to the small group of competitive gymnasts who returned to training last week. Thank you to parents and gymnasts for your patience and support over the past few months, we really appreciate it.

Thank you to our multi-talented coach Aoife for her fantastic artwork to remind all of us that we have a personal resposibility to keep our Club healthy.

We would like to wish all our gymnasts, staff and their families a very Happy Easter and we hope the Easter Bunny pays a visit!

Everybody has been sent worksheets, videos, programs, etc., etc., so please encourage the gymnasts to keep up with the training, we have provided the resources but sadly we can’t be with them in the gym for now.

A very special shout out to all our Parents who are part of the frontline team, whether it’s in Healthcare, Emergency Services, Retail, Community Volunteers or whatever the role, you are all doing a fantastic job and we applaud you for this.

We are also thinking of all the grandparents who are cocooning and missing being with their grandchildren at this time, we have lots of them dropping and collecting the children throughout the year and we would like to wish them all well.

Please Stay Safe and Stay Home and we look forward to being back in action in the gym soon.

We have now finished processing all the refunds for the Easter Camps.

• You should have received an email from PayPal stating that we have refunded your payment and the last four digits of your card where it was refunded to.
• If you have not received this email please check in your junk mail as well as your inbox, it is automatically generated and sent to the email address you used when paying the fee. If you have not received the email, please contact us next week and we can check it out for you.
• The refund should be in your account in a few days, if it takes longer please contact your card issuer directly as this is outside of our control.

It is with the heaviest of hearts that, unfortunately, we have to cancel our Easter Camps this year. We are so disappointed for all the children who were looking forward to it but as the situation is ongoing, there is no other option.

We will issue a full refund to everybody in the coming week. This will be processed through PayPal and will automatically be returned to your account or bank debit/credit card that you paid with. You will receive an email confirming when this has been done and the refund may take a couple of days to show up in your account. Please bear with us while we are carrying out this task, we promise we will endeavour to get it all done as soon as we can. We would like to thank all of you that support us at Camps and throughout the year.

Please stay safe, keep active, keep your physical distance, observe all the guidelines and we will be back in action again very soon!

Just because the gym is closed, gymnastics does not need to stop!

This is only for our members currently in a 1-2 hour class. We want you to send us pictures of your gymnast doing their best handstand, to our club phone 083 8333171 (preferably by WhatsApp) before 25th March. Please ensure you put your child’s name on the text.

The winners will have their handstand picture painted by Saoirse, one winner in the girls category and one in the boys. Get practicing gymnasts and have fun!

As of today no decision has yet been made in relation to whether or not Easter Camps will go ahead. The period currently given for school closures, etc., is 29th March and as our Camps fall outside of this period it is too early to speculate.

In the event that the Camps have to be cancelled, all parents will be contacted and payment will be refunded.

In the meantime the health and safety of our members, staff and community is our priority and we will be following the advice from the HSE and playing our part in helping to stop the spread of this virus.

Don’t panic, follow the HSE guidelines and look after the vulnerable in our society and we will all get through this. Stay safe!

Following the recent government announcement with regard to COVID-19 we will be closing the gym after our last class tonight until further notice.
We feel it is important that we all play our part in minimising this outbreak and be especially mindful of the more vulnerable members of society.
We will be in touch again when we have an update and hopefully we won’t have to remain closed for long. In the meantime, keep up the practice at home and be ready to come back re-energised!
